Why we do what we do?
For over five years we have had a passion for working with young people in Upper Hutt, particularly those who would otherwise be overlooked or forgotten. Kickstart was established to enable the continuation of the programmes and initiatives begun in the community, helping to provide young people with opportunities to realise hope for a better future.
"To connect and journey with young people through creating healthy spaces and experiences that enable them to discover their worth, see new possibilities for their future, and contribute positively to our community".
"Realising Hope for a better future for the young people of Upper Hutt"
Say hello to the dream team at Kickstart, and find out exactly what makes each of them a uniquely valued member of our staff.
Without each of these change-makers, we'd just be another non-profit organisation.
We've been under various spotlights within the local community as well as the wider regional community, including winning the Wellington Airport Award for Education & Child Youth Development in 2015.

Kickstart is a charitable trust (officially Upper Hutt Community Youth Trust) and as such governed by a trust board. We are fortunate to have a fantastic board providing governance for the work that we do. Our board is currently made up of seven members as below.
Kelvin Watson (Chair), Kevin Hagen (Secretary), Rebecca Hagen, Josh Peauafi, Alison Barnes, Gary Sims and Nicki Liddy.
Our Trust Board meet monthly to approve finances, receive reports from staff, and to make decisions around the governance of Kickstart.
